Acupuncture Service

15/01/2023

Acupuncture service is an ancient healing method that involves the insertion of fine needles in specific points on the body. Acupuncture can be used for treating a variety of health conditions. This therapy is known to be helpful in the treatment of pain and sleep disorders, as well as respiratory ailments.

Acupuncture can also be beneficial in the management of chronic disease. Studies have shown that acupuncture can increase the overall function of the nervous system and enhance the detoxification process. Moreover, it can be useful in the treatment of migraine and headaches. It may be beneficial in the management of bronchospasm and hyperventilation syndromes.

Research has also shown that acupuncture can be effective in preventing and treating allergies. It is useful in the management of stress and anxiety, and can be helpful in the treatment of insomnia. In addition, it is considered to be safe. It can be administered by trained and licensed health care professionals.

In the United States, acupuncture is covered by certain insurance plans, such as Aetna. However, some insurers limit the coverage of acupuncture services. Besides, it is only a licensed provider who is allowed to administer acupuncture. Moreover, the practice is generally supervised by a medical professional with specific training. When billing for acupuncture services, providers must indicate which ICD diagnosis codes are applicable. Moreover, acupuncture is not reimbursed separately from other services.

There are four main categories of acupuncture services. First, auricular acupuncture, which is usually used for pain management, is a noninvasive procedure in which acupuncturists insert tiny needles into a specific area on the patient's head. Second, scalp acupuncture, which is typically used after brain surgery, stimulates the brain cells and encourages the revitalization of the brain. Third, moxibustion, which is performed by lighting mugwort herb over a needle, can be beneficial in the treatment of pain and insomnia. Finally, electroacupuncture, which sends electrical current between two small clips, can be effective for reducing the intensity of pain.

Several studies have suggested that acupuncture can be effective in the treatment of cancer-related pain. Nevertheless, the research conducted in this study was too limited to provide any conclusive information. Hence, further studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in the management of various types of cancer.

An overview of the available evidence has been provided by Gibson and colleagues. The authors analyzed 24 systematic reviews. They included four Cochrane reviews and 20 non-Cochrane systematic reviews. Among these reviews, only a single trial was able to define pain scores, while the others did not. The quality of the systematic reviews was evaluated using the Overview Quality Assessment Questionnaire.

The findings of this review suggest that acupuncture may be effective in the management of post-stroke neurological impairment. Moreover, it may be useful in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke. Additionally, it can be helpful in the management of myopia in adolescents. Nevertheless, large placebo-controlled RCTs are still necessary to fully establish the clinical Acupuncture Benefits in patients with IPD.
